I have been the PDM at South Dartmoor for 3 years. I moved to Devon to take up this post from having been a PDM in Bristol for 3 years. There is obviously a huge contrast between the 2 areas, and each faces different challenges. The rural nature and size of the partnership in Devon brings particular issues that I never had to tackle in Bristol but the schools themselves are very different places. I am lucky to work with a very dedicated team in Devon from the staff at SDCC, all the SSCo's and PLT's who enable me to move the partnership forward. This next year will be very exciting and I am looking forward to seeing our plans in practice.

As you can imagine it has been a totally different experience for me but one which I have throughly enjoyed. Watching children, of all ages and abilities, being involved in physical activities and having fun is what is so rewarding with this job.

It has been a real inspiration working as a dance consultant in South Devon primary schools this year. The teachers that I have worked with have been as keen to develop their dance teaching skills as the children have been to create dance-work and perform. It is always exciting and encouraging after projects like this one to hear positive responses from participants - both students and teachers - who having not previously been involved in, or won-over by dance, have now caught the dance 'bug'. There has always been a lot of passion and enthusiasm for dance in Devon and to see that developing more and more within schools is heartening. Long may it continue to flourish.
