Partnership Exceeds National Targets:
“ 88% of ALL PUPILS
in the partnership are receiving 2 hours PE a week”.
The annual, national Physical Education, School Sport and Club Links survey (PESSCL) was conducted at the end of the
2006 summer term. This survey is the highest measure of success for partnerships and the means by which the government attain
their vital statistics. The target for partnerships was to achieve 75% of all pupils receiving 2 hours of high quality Physical
education and School sport by 2006. The South Dartmoor School Sport partnership has attained a massive 88% for this target
which is 8% higher than the excellent national average. This also means that the national target for partnerships for 2008
of 85% has already been achieved by South Dartmoor.
However this does not mean that the partnership is complacent, for this academic year one of our target areas is to
ensure that all delivery whether in curriculum or out-of-hours-learning is of high quality.
In addition to this we are also working into target the key stages with the lowest percentages.
One way in which the Partnership is tackling this is by introducing “Assessment for Learning” which is
a method of planning and teaching based around accurate observations of where pupils actually are in their learning and using
the pupils to assess their own and their peers’ progress.
