"During my first year at G&T,  I have made one achievement with my football for Bovey Tracey Forresters when we won the league this year. I also gained my brown two white stripe belt in Karate. I am now training for my black belt.

I have enjoyed the G&T sessions this year they have really helped me with my sport to be better because my balance has improved and my running."

"Harry has had a really fun time this year attending the sessions. I have noticed a big improvement in his balance and hand eye co-ordination. Also his diet. Many thanks Sue." Claire L (mum)

Congratulations to Megan B (Year 7, Teign School and a member of our Gifted & Talented programme) who had a very successful competition at the Devon Intermediate & Open Gymnastics Championship on 10th May.  She finished 2nd place in the under 13s, being beaten only by a competitor a year older than her.  Well done!

part in a High Flyers Rugby coaching programme.

Coaching will be provided by experienced club coaches who

will work with the children in small groups. The children will

get the opportunity to develop their individual skills, mix with

other children from different schools, and this will also provide an

opportunity to train at the Junior Clubs where the coaching takes

place.

The dates and venues were as follows:-

Teignmouth Rugby Club:

Tuesday 4th and Wednesdays 12th & 19th November, 4 – 5.30pm

G&T Testing Day

Over 30 Year 7 PE students aged 11-12 yrs came to a G & T selection day at Seale Hayne, where they underwent tests on speed, agility, coordination, balance, vertical jumps, sit and reach and body height and weight. Each child was also asked to write a brief outline of their sporting achievements to date and their sporting ambition.

From the information gathered 12 students were invited onto the new G&T programme which started with a 2 day “camp” at Exeter University on December 15th and 16th 2008 (pictured left). This year 2009,  a further 8 days are programmed in for them to work on their core skills which underpin all sports. There are 8 boys and 4 girls on the programme and their top sports include rugby, football, hockey, cricket, gymnastics, badminton and athletics.

Cricket High Flyers Events - June 2008
In the Summer term the common curriculum focus was Dartmoor 3 Ball for our striking and fielding game.  The School Sport Partnership linked with Bovey Tracey Cricket Club to aid our delivery of striking and fielding activities.

Selected pupils were invited to attend the Cricket 'High Flyers' evenings.  This was a great opportunity for the pupils to develop their individual striking and fielding skills through cricket and work in small groups with experienced coaches.

Cricket High Flyers - June 2008
The three sessions of Cricket High Flyers at Bovey Tracey and Teign were a great success, with children from several primary schools across the Partnership being helped with their skills by Young Leaders and members of the Bovey Tracey Cricket Cub at the Bovey event (see photo below).
