Congratulations to the girls from South Dartmoor Community College who where crowned South Dartmoor School Sport Partnership Area Winners of the Devon Girls County Cup. South Dartmoor took the honours in all three of the age groups, the U12/U14 and U16, this was a combination of hard work by the girls over the course of five months.

This year saw a big change in the competition structure within the Devon Girls County Cup. It saw School Sport Partnerships running central venue leagues, leading into regional area finals, with the ultimate aim of making it to the Devon County Cup Finals Day @ Feniton FC. This was to reduce the workloads on PE members of staff, to cut travel costs and ultimately to give the girls a better high quality playing experience.

South Dartmoor School Sport Partnership Central Venue League ran @ South Dartmoor Community College on their astro turf, with 7 schools entering this areas competition. This year’s competition saw approximately 180 girls taking part from across the partnership which included Kingsbridge from the Ivybridge School Sport Partnership.

The three South Dartmoor girls teams lined up against the winners of the Torbay School Sport Partnership competition in the South Devon Area Final. The U12 and U16 girls played Westlands, winning 7-0 and 4-1 respectively and the U14 girls played Paignton and won 8-0.

The football played by all of the girls was fantastic, and is a real credit to not only the school but also to their coach Pete Boston. The amount of time and effort Pete has given to girls football within this area over the years, is tremendous and we here at South Dartmoor hope it continues for a long time. South Dartmoor are now through to the County Final @ Feniton FC on Thursday 30^th April.
